What does “create your unexpected” mean to you?
To live your authentic self and embrace yourself 100% unapologetically. We are all different and unique in our own ways, and we must embrace this to the fullest. Have no doubt and do it! Trust yourself.

When do you feel the most creatively charged?
Every day. I find inspiration in most moments. There is always that one inspiring quality in everything and everyone that we encounter in our daily lives. I love working with new creatives and learning their thoughts, ideas, and perspectives.

What has your creativity taught you?
Creativity is what you make of it. The source is endless, and perfection is elusive. So, I’ll keep creating. I love making art, and I believe I can grow.

As a trailblazer in the fashion industry, how do you see your role in underscoring and challenging beauty standards?
I am forever grateful and honoured to have contributed to how beauty is perceived. Beauty is ever-evolving, and I am so happy to see how the fashion industry embraces it. We still have a long way to go, but every step counts.

What has fashion given you?
Being in the fashion industry has provided me with a platform to raise awareness about important issues, which is incredible, particularly as someone who was once a refugee and experienced the civil war in Sudan before finding refuge in England and pursuing an education.

Can you recall a moment when fashion played a role in helping you overcome a significant challenge?
I recently had a foot injury. It made me think that I would never be able to walk in high heels again, which I have worn for decades. I was afraid, but with the encouragement of my friends and family, I managed to get back on the runway! I am glad I can still enjoy my creative work without fear of wearing the shoes I need to do what I love.

What are you excited to wear this spring?
I am excited to wear flowery, colourful pieces that inspire me creatively. Fashion is and will always be an important part of my life. Wearing a simple piece of clothing can mean so much. It can give you that extra confidence you need and make you feel beautiful and confident, inside and out.

What have you always wanted to try?
Surfing! Since I’m learning how to swim, that would be amazing. There is something so freeing about being out there in the ocean.

What is something you had to learn the hard way?
To just be, to be myself and not worry, and not contemplate even after I have made my decision. So simple, yet so challenging.

What is the last thing people would guess about you?
I’m pretty reserved, introverted and shy. I have different sides, and I like that.
