Connecting on cultivating and celebrating creativity, we’ve joined forces with actor Nell Tiger Free to set the scene for the new season. Together, we present the film Creativity Reigns.

How did you become an actor?
Acting found me! I was scouted when I was around ten years old, they thought I looked right for a part and asked me to audition, and I fell in love with acting. I sometimes think about what my life would be like if I wasn’t scouted that day and wonder if I would’ve found my way to acting another way. I like to think I would’ve!

How would you describe your approach to acting?
Honestly, learn the lines and hope for the best. I didn’t study acting, and I’d say I’ve been winging it for around 12 years now.

When do you feel the most creatively charged?
When I read something in a script and think, “There’s no way I can pull that off”, and then the cameras roll, I realise I have no choice but to get it right. It’s such a rush! You get addicted to it. I enjoy seeing how far I can push myself—the more physically and emotionally strenuous the scene, the better. Maybe I’m a masochist, but I think all actors are.

What is something that your creativity has taught you?
Having your passion also be your job is one of the luckiest things in the world. I’m grateful that what I love and do go hand in hand. Everybody needs an outlet for their creativity. It all manifests in different ways, and it’s vital to keep you feeling connected to life.

What do you dream of creating?
I want to make movies that people enjoy, and I want to do justice to the characters that I play.

How would you describe your style?
I look like a different person every day. If I’ve just watched a movie or a tv show that I loved, I tend to emulate whatever the lead character’s energy was for a while. I suppose I steal other peoples identity’s and hope no one notices. I’m currently in my Rachel Green [from the television series Friends] era.

What does fashion mean to you?
No matter my mood, I always feel better when I get dressed in something I love. Fashion is the ever-changing expression of who we are. You can tell a lot about someone’s personality by their style and the clothes they choose. I can look back at old pictures and outfits and realise how they represent who I was at the time and how I was feeling.

What are you excited to wear this fall?
& Other Stories, of course! I love fall fashion and am ready to whip out my trench coat and chunky knits.

Nell Tiger Free is a British actor. She plays the lead role in The First Omen, an upcoming prequel to the 1976 classic. Free previously played Leanne Grayson in the television series Servant and Myrcella Baratheon in seasons 5 and 6 of Game of Thrones.
